Biography of Malik Riaz
A nineteen year old clerk was noticed working relentlessly, to help his father to make ends meet, at the Military Engineering Service. Jump to 20 years later, in today’s time, controversies surround the same kid, as he has become the biggest Pakistani tradesman. Yes, we are talking about none other than the billionaire who heads one of the biggest private land developments, namely Bahria Town, renowned all around the Southeast Asia – Malik Riaz.
How was it that a teenage who was at the bottom of the ladder climbed it all the way, so much so that he accumulated billions on his way, only during two decades of his life?
His journey sure does bewilder others. Malik Riaz’s father was himself a successful businessman, but due to some unfortunate luck he was met with a huge financial crisis that lead him to bankruptcy. Hence, his nineteen years old was out there on the fields trying to help his family, when the rest of his comrades were pursuing their higher education. The initial adult life of Malik Riaz wasn’t luxurious either. He and his first wife lived quite a tough life. Difficulties stormed their path when their dear daughter fell sick and Malik had to work tirelessly to scrape enough money for her medical expenses. Malik RIaz during this critical time went out and tried his hands on whatever jobs he could find, be it painting, selling kitchen appliances and even paved roads. ‘

Finally, slowly his life started to take a major turn, especially around the end of 1970s. His friend decided to trust Malik Riaz with a loan, to use in a project Malik had discussed with him previously. Malik used this sum of money to start his contracting business, promising his friend a handsome amount of money back. He started to work day in and day out on his new venture, realizing the importance of this and giving it his all. As a result of which his project finally started giving him fruitful returns along with recognition in the business community. In midst of this he decided to move to Malaysia for future projects. While onto his new endeavors, he got a sudden inspiration. He realized there were no luxury modern styled housing societies in Pakistan, like that in Malaysia. He decided he was going to change that as he travelled back to Pakistan. He talked to multiple army officials and the big investors of Pakistan to help him out in this pursuit. They were soon stirred up by this aspiring businessman and decided to help him out, while being promised huge returns.
The project was launched in 1996, under the name of ‘Bahria Town’
The tremendous progress Bahria Town made over the past few years, was only possible due to the consistent efforts of Malik Riaz and his guidance and effortless leadership. He also mentored his own son and pushed him to look after some of the projects. Due to their combined energies and vigilance in supervising all the projects, Bahria Town made an unparalleled mark on Pakistan’s real estate.
Without an inkling of doubt and with no competitor quite like it, Bahria Town created a bench mark not known to the real estate world of Pakistan.
The amount of sellers and buyers that rush to these properties and how they benefit from each deal made over time, is a strong evidence of its noteworthy success. Starting off with the cities of Punjab, i.e in Islamabad and Lahore, Bahria Town even expanded to Karachi. The project in Karachi is about to set new records in the southeast Asia. A variety of tourist attractions like replicas of Central Park, Taj Mahal, Eiffle Tower and the biggest stadium in the country, a giant gym for athletes, 36 hole golf course are just a few of the highlights. This realestate project is no doubt going to help Pakistan reach new milestones, and will become the pioneer for more futuristic real estate projects.
Malik Riaz didn’t gain an overnight success, it was multiple push and pulls and the consistency that lead him to the place where he is today. Even till date he has many court cases pending, a thousands of journalists condemning his work and authenticity. However, none of that has shaken this incomparable entrepreneur.
He believes his hardwork and religious steadiness is what truly lead him to reach the places he has reached today.

If we carry on discussing Malik Riaz’s power points and what has lead him to reach all the success, we can’t resist but speak upon his powerful grit and resilience, through all the ups and downs. He just doesn’t seem to give in to situations like an average person would. He first sets a goal and then puts his all into the making of it. An example of his strong grit lies also in the fact that he was often under huge pressure to give up on his pursuit of Bahria Town by external forces like economical, political and other private companies who didn’t want him to foster. However, his persistence and eagle view on where he wanted to go, none of these forces were able to put him down, and he brought his spectacular ideas come to live.
Along with grit & confidence, the one thing that makes Malik Riaz so rare is the amount of dedication and devotion he has for his projects. Even after reaching huge milestones, this man still is on his toes for every single one of his projects. Being a perfectionist, in a grueling career as real estate can make it even more challenging, however Malik Riaz still forces his entire team to produce perfection. His idealistic visions seems too good to be true on paper, but when he continues to work on it, he somehow brings that very creation into the world, it truly is a spectacle. Ofcourse, such mind blowing projects can’t possibly be done with minimum efforts, hence Malik goes all in to make sure there are no leaves left unturned.
His troublesome beginning is what keeps him humble even to this day. He remembers the times when he was a teenager working day in and day out to support his family. Today, he supports the country’s middle class and lower middle class, providing them with minimal budget deals so they too can own land of their own in his huge empire of Bahria Town. Other than that his other humanitarian projects like Bahria DastarKhwaan helps feed thousands of people in Pakistan every day.
