A State of terror | What Doesn’t Fit Right | Opinion

If we were to think then we might ask few questions. These questions are not important to some, but for others, these questions might be an answer to all the guilt that exists in this country.
So, let’s talk about those questions. These two questions you might think of, with peace of mind. Let’s start off with how much of a regressive nation we all are and second we might be called “Anti-progressive” as a nation.
Think about it, whenever we find someone being nice and helpful to us, we allow ourselves to be most violent and a severe danger to that person either through verbal or physical demonstrations.
After thinking about these two questions, we might get to understand the third and crucial question “For how long would this keep on going?” Our inaptitude to someone and returning their concerns with our hate and anger enough to burn millions and billions worth of property, goods, infrastructure, and goodwill.
Malik Riaz is one of those few people who is seen as someone willing to go extra lengths for someone else. Yet he complains none. He was the sole person to put together a system to boost and uplift the Real Estate industry. He made homes for lower and middle-class people and provided the best facilities anyone could dream of.
Malik Riaz has been following and answering courts for over 26 years. They just can’t have enough of him.
What did Malik Riaz Do wrong? That’s another important question to ask. Malik Riaz has been working regardless of his conditions. He has met many different challenges such as property being burned to dust, blocking the r0ads, or put to chains. He always has a way to work under this pressure.
Once he called his friend, Javed Choudhary to talk about. He mentioned that he wants to admit his wrongs, The wrongs of coming to this country. He had everything that he could ever dream of before becoming this giant developer. He could have just left and worked and enjoyed with his family. Yet he didn’t. He preferred to work and move along with the people of the country.
He mentioned that there are over 39 Different housing schemes near super highways yet everyone comes just to question me and my Bahria Town Karachi. He asked that what sort of law did he get to break where others were rightfully true and lawful in the eyes of the government. The Government sees us differently.
“Why are you Grabbing and stealing other’s land?”. He responded with a claim that there are over 39 other housing societies that have bought and possessed and grabbed those land yet only me and my project Bahria Town were targeted and attacked.
Why aren’t other societies attacked or questioned the same way the Attack on Bahria Town. The state still remains to be talked about. If Bahria Town and Bahria Town Apartments are illegal then every other society along with Bahria Town must be closed down.
The Land which everyone here is talking about was barren and wasteland-like. There was no water, no means of infrastructure, no schools, or no hospitals. That’s how bad these lands were. The same lands they were willing to torch the Bahria Town for. People used to carry water through walking long journeys or using animals or smaller vehicles. Now the same people have good means of transport, Villas to live in and jobs to work at.
Malik Riaz Further commented that if he were to develop some other land that generates practically nothing, people would still come and attack his work.
What’s next now?
Would The government be able to take care of all this? If the government hates all that’s going on right now they can try to fix it, fix the system, fix the regulatory system.
Or, The government may turn a spearhead towards the societies and take charge of building the houses on its own. The government won’t be able to handle societies one after the other if it seems overwhelming. But if they were to approach this situation by handling the property building then things might take a different toll.
But for that to happen without any hinderence then government must ban the private housing societies and build these societies themselves. If the Government can not handle this then it should create a system! A system to provide private companies a space to work for the people and build their houses. If these companies do not deliver or do not deliver the project on time then the people and their interest should be protected by the government!
Our Behaviour as a Nation
Whatever the case may be, Torching and blazing people’s property is not acceptable. By all means, these should be stopped and the protection should be guaranteed by the government. How can the government claim or ask people to invest in a state where terror reins? The security and prosperity lie on the agencies who have vouched to protect the lives of the citizens.
Under another circumstance, Malik Riaz would have been a multibillionaire tycoon much close to Bill Gates if he ever were to be born in another developed nation. The state where he could progress is probably not Pakistan. We have made him a villain. All that he has provided over the course of his projects was something no one else could have provided us yet we are more concerned with naming him the biggest culprit without any proof.
The Supreme court played its part as the last straw by grabbing Bahria Town’s neck and asking for all the documents. Although the supreme settled the case with Rs460Bn Penalty. Supreme did understand that the problem was at the land allotting system primarily at the Sindh government and MDA were pointed. This whole fiasco made chaos in the real estate market. The Bahria Town market crashed.
The progress that Bahria Town made in the Real estate was something the government tried its best to achieve, even if it costed them to give three Amnesties. The government can not bring something to life which the government is already destined to destroy with its own hand. The actions such as putting heavy taxes, court cases, and putting investing activities in reverse gear.
The Foreign Countries seem safer than what we have right now. The state of Karachi is deplorable and only the safe, secure, and peaceful land of Bahria Town gets turned apart by the people that seem to care only about the chaos and uneasiness in the country.
