DEMOLITION OF PAVILION END CLUB

The Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of the Pavilión end club, the Aladdin shopping complex, and the famous Hot & Spicy restaurant. Following the demolition of Kidney Hill park due to its illegal encroachment it is not the second event of the same type that residents of Karachi have witnessed.
As soon as the news erupted citizens of Karachi began a persistent protest against the demolition. On the other hand, hot and spicy eatery notified their customers a day prior about the ongoing problem and that they will soon relocate their new branch.
According to the sources, the Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of these places because these places were built illegally. Additionally, the authorities of the Pavilion End Club as well as of Aladdin shopping mall and the famous hot and spicy restaurant had a lease of 25 years, and that the lease has reached its limit. Hence, the order of demolition was issued.
Reports are abuzz that the land was not authorized for commercial reasons and the land basically belongs to Aladdin Amusement park, hence, any sort of construction on that land is illegal. Accordingly, SC ordered that the shopping center Aladdin, hot and spicy, and the pavilion end club must be cleared. Besides, the Court also ordered the submission of the demolition report within two days.
On the other hand, the demolition of these constructed properties raised anger and concerns in the residents of nearby areas. The residents started a protest that as of now is ongoing. The protest included people who had their stores at the malls and employees, the protestor even sought to prevent the workers who came to their work for demolition, and their appeal to the Supreme Court is to rethink the verdict keeping the loss of an individual rather than authorities in consideration.
Due to the demolition, there have been numerous complaints and concerns about the administration. Happenings like these mostly raise questions like why the inhabitants were not notified about the demolition prior and is there any kind of option for the workers that suffered due to the actions of authorities.
The residents of Karachi are not alienated with the encroachment concept, and then respectively their tragic consequences. However, it is only recently that they are coming along with the news of the demolition of anti-encroachments. As much as these types of news are new to the inhabitants of Karachi they are equally shocking.
