    The Supreme Court announced its verdict regarding the IDPs case against the Sindh Government. Now the Resettlement of Gujjar Nullah, Orangi Nullah, and Mohammadabad's Nullah displaced people is finally on the move. Many residents have been waiting for this day.

    The Supreme Court announced its verdict on the 25th of October 2021, regarding the report filed by the Sindh government on 8th October 2021.

    The Supreme Court’s Dissatisfaction

    Under those reports, the Supreme Court showed dissatisfaction against the reports submitted by the Sindh Government regarding the Civil review Petition no. 61-K of 2021. 

    The Supreme Court of Pakistan was unsatisfied with the justification produced by advocate general Sindh. The reports were not in-line with the current case and failed to deliver what was asked. The Supreme Court asked Sindh’s Chief Minister to produce the report under his signature and appear in person.

    The Chief Minister Sindh appeared in person but the Supreme Court was still dissatisfied with the justification produced by the Chief Minister. 

    What’s Decided? : The Program and the verdict

    The Supreme Court wanted the best to be done for the displaced people of Gujjar’s, Muhammadabad's, Oragni Town Nulah’s residents. The Supreme Court Referred to the ‘para number 13 and 16’ of the report. 

    The Government of Sindh would provide land free of cost for the affectees

    The Supreme Court also directed the Sindh government to start the construction of the houses from the amount deposited by Bahria Town.

    • The Government of Sindh shall ensure all the legal and procedural formalities on a priority basis.
    • The project would be funded by the Sindh Government. 

    The Rs 1 billion would be funded by this financial year and Rs9 Billion by next year.

    The project should also be completed within 2 years.

    • The affectees are provided all the housing and infrastructure facilities such as Electricity, Gas, Sewerage, Water, Streets, and Roads by the Sindh Government.
