The Update 25 Oct: The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court ordered the demolition of the Residential apartment within a week, presumably by next Tuesday. The Residential apartment Nasla Tower would have to be a controlled blast, this means the demolition should not affect any other structure around it when it crumbles to the ground. Once that’s done it should be reported to the Supreme court.

The Supreme court mentioned and addressed the land irregularities in Karachi which are happening on a massive scale. Unauthorized and illegal allotments, illegal construction, encroachments on amenity plots.

The Sindh government came under heat when the rehabilitation of families that were displaced from the demolition of encroachments at

    • Mehmood Abad Nullah.

The Update 26 Oct: The Cut-off of Resources

All utility connections of Nasla Tower have been disconnected. Water, electricity, and gas have been cut off for Nasla Tower. The Sindh’s Assistant Commissioner wrote to institutes i.e K-Electric, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and Sui Northern Gas Limited to halt and cut off the connection of Plot no. 193 of Sindh Muslim society as per the compliance of SC order on September 22, 2021.

Does Sindh Plan to delay this?

The Sindh government excused itself from the blasting procedure, admitting that they do not have the expertise to do such. Thus, a tender notice was published to have experts deal with the matter appropriately. This might take a while to get a specialist team on board. According to Dawn,

“Consider that clearing of encroachments has by and large taken place on land administered by the Sindh government. Structures illegally built-in cantonment areas continue to remain standing despite orders dating from August 2018 onwards to pull them down.

The accountability must not be compromised at any cost. There are many institutes that provide their services such as electricity and gas.
