The Revival Scheme of Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) to Work at Full Speed Following Supreme Court order: Sheikh Rashid

The Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid, addressed the conference on Sunday 27 September, 2020 in the SITE area at Shah Abdul Latif station directed that Supreme Court’s order will be followed by Pakistan Railways for the improvement of Karachi Circular Railways (KCR).
Mr. Rashid, along with KCR project Director Ameer Mohammad Daudpota, Arshad Salam Khattak, Divisional superintendent of Karachi, Lahore Senior General Manager and CEO of Pakistan Railways, Nisar Ahmed Memon, briefed the press conference on Adam Road at his office around 1 pm. First media was informed that after surveying the tracks in trolley starting from City Station to Shah Abdul Latif Station, Mr. Sheikh would reach them. Still, he took Adam Road after changing his mind and asked the journalist to join him at his camp office to have a press conference. While making a speech, he just talked about the fast working of the KCR project. He said:
“I have visited Nazimabad, Gulbai, Gillani and Machhar Colony railway stations just now and am happy to report that things are moving at a good pace. The KCR is a Rs10.5 billion project of which Rs1.8 billion will be spent in the first phase.”
Federal Minister would communicate longer to the media regarding the work process, but he wouldn’t be able to extend his conversation because of not feeling well.
He spoke: “I will myself also come to Karachi every 15 days to supervise the Work. We hope to make it happen very soon.”
“The Sindh government is also with us and it has taken the responsibility of constructing 24 overhead bridges, level crossings, etc and they have also awarded tenders for all this to the Frontier Works Organization.” He further explained.
About 12km of the area has been cleared while the functioning on the rest of 30km is in process on tracks of KCR. Concerning the KCR map, Mr. Rashid is also connected with the Sindh Government. He told: “I will share with the media the finalized map on Monday 28 September, 2020.”
Additionally, he said about the model coaches, which will show at Karachi Cantonment Station soon while Islamabad KCR coaches are under progress.
